Starting my journey in 1960, building a darkroom in the foyer closet, teaching myself chemistry and learning to develop and print, black and white and color film. I was on my way… As a High School Junior, at La Salle Academy, Ted Lorenz, then manager of up and coming star Bette Midler, hired me to photograph her performance at the Continental Baths, on Broadway.  It was the best $35 I ever had the fun to earn, and Bette had fabulous photos too.  At 18, during the New York City Hall presentation of the keys to the city, for the 7th time, to Muhammad Ali, by the Koch Administration, meeting my then idol, gave me the thirst for image making, I’ve followed ever since. Living through a personal tragedy of my father’s murder I pursued a degree in Psychology, at CCNY, only to realize, when enrolled in my first Media course, that making one good film would have a greater beneficial impact on society than a lifetime of practice as a Psychologist.  So I switched majors, and schools, to the School of Visual Arts, enrolling in the Film Department, studying under Adam Hollander, the DP for Marathon man, the Gleason brothers, sound engineers for films and commercials, I graduated, with honors, with a Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts.  Three months later I joined NABET-Local-15 as an Electric and continued advancement to Director of Photography, 17 years later.

By then Steve Jobs , Steve Wozniak and Roland Wayne  were on there way establishing Apple Computer and I was right on top of it.  In 1982 I met Steve Jobs at the Javits Convention Center in New York City.  I told him of the files I digitized in “Appleworks®" spreadsheets, Apple’s first spreadsheet software, the A.I.C.P. (Association of Independent Commercial Producers) bid form, an  industry standard  bidding form for over a quarter century. I called it LaserBid™.  He asked me to send him the files and three days later he called me having Rupert Lissner on the line, the author of AppleWorks®;  Steve exclaimed, “I didn’t know my software could do all this;” He made me a Developer on the spot. Sending the files to Bill Gates, who upon seeing the spreadsheets called me and said, “Wait till you see Excel”, and he too made me a developer with Microsoft .  However, introducing  Adobe to the 2 programmers who created AfterEffects, at a seminar, I conducted at LaserEdit East, in New York City, in the 1980’s was my crowning glory.

However, my current joy is supporting, inner city not for profits and its youth to realize their creative skills and potential to make their dreams come true.

As an autodidact dyslectic I’ve yet to take a single computer course. So you see, I’ve been around the block a few times and I’m restarting my career again;  Version 3.0.
